Workplace Accommodations

The equal opportunity office facilitates reasonable workplace accommodations for staff and student employees with disabilities as found in the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). BYU will attempt in good faith to comply with those provisions of the ADA by ensuring all employees can perform their essential job functions effectively and participate fully in the workplace.

What is a Reasonable Accommodation?

A reasonable work accommodation is any modification or adjustment that enables an employee with a disability to:

  • Participate in the application/hiring process
  • Access work-related benefits and privileges
  • Maintain a safe and productive work environment

  2. Submit current medical documentation supporting your request
  3. Meet with the Equal Opportunity Manager to discuss your needs
  4. Fully participate with supervisors in an interactive process to determine appropriate accommodations

Our office will work collaboratively with you and your supervisor to implement effective accommodations while maintaining confidentiality about your medical information.
