Making an Offer

For Staff and Administrative Positions

Making the Offer

Once the hire has been approved you will have the opportunity to call the candidate and offer the position. Always call, never just send the offer letter. The call can be brief, but the important things to mention are the job title, the expected start date, wage/salary, and if they have any questions. Make sure to answer any additional questions that they have and let them know that you will be sending the official offer letter to them. Confirm the email to send the offer letter.

It is normal for the candidate to ask for some time to think about the offer. If that happens, kindly ask them how long they will need and create a deadline for them to get back with you. If the candidate asks questions about future benefits you can direct them to the Prospective Employees page or to the BYU Benefits office.
